    The Association of Academies of Sciences in Asia (AASA) and InterAcademy Panel (IAP) on International Issues under support of Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS) are arranging the regional workshop “Strengthening the Collaboration between the AASA Clean Water Programme and the IAP Water Programme” to be held on October 21-22, 2009 in Barnaul, Russia at the Institute for Water and Environmental Problems SB RAS.

The workshop main topics are:

• Water challenges and opportunities in Asia and the World
• The Status of the IAP Water Programme and the AASA Clean Water Programme
• AASA´s Prospective Role in Implementing Action Plans to Address Water Challenges in Asia
• Strengthening the Collaboration between the AASA Clean Water Programme and the IAP Water Programme
• Future Steps and Funding Issues - Development of a Water Programme proposal for Asia in 2010

    The invited participants include water specialists nominated by the Science Academies and the representatives from environmental protection agencies, the private sector. The total expected number of attendees is of approximately 30.

    The workshop proceeding will be published. The papers should be submitted in English (8-10 pages) before August 31, 2009.
